Teoría del Inglés Básico

El inglés tiene sonidos que no existen en español. Aprenderlos es clave para ser entendido.

El alfabeto inglés (26 letras):

Sonidos difíciles para hispanohablantes:

  • TH sonora (the, this, that): lengua entre los dientes, vibra. Como decir "d" suave.
  • TH sorda (think, three, thank): lengua entre dientes, no vibra.
  • SH (she, show, fish): labios adelante, como "shhh".
  • CH (chair, cheese): combinación de T + SH.
  • W (water, what): labios redondeados, no es "gu" ni "v".
  • R inglés (red, run): lengua hacia atrás, sin vibrar.

Vocales largas y cortas:

En inglés, la misma letra puede tener varios sonidos. Ej: "a" en "cat" (corta) vs "cake" (larga).

📐 Gramática A1 — Verbo to be y artículos ▼

Verbo TO BE (ser / estar):

Pronombre Forma Contracción Ejemplo
I am I'm I am a student.
You are You're You are my friend.
He / She / It is He's / She's / It's She is happy.
We / You / They are We're / They're They are teachers.

Artículos:

  • A: antes de consonante. "A dog", "a car".
  • An: antes de vocal. "An apple", "an orange".
  • The: artículo definido (el/la/los/las). "The book", "the students".

Plurales:

  • Regla general: agregar -s. cat → cats, book → books.
  • Palabras en -s, -sh, -ch, -x, -z: agregar -es. bus → buses, watch → watches.
  • Terminadas en consonante + y: cambiar y → -ies. baby → babies.
  • Irregulares: man → men, woman → women, child → children, foot → feet.
⏱️ Tiempos verbales básicos ▼

Presente Simple (Simple Present):

Expresa hábitos, hechos y verdades generales.

  • Afirmativa: I/You/We/They + verbo | He/She/It + verbo + s. "She works every day."
  • Negativa: I don't / She doesn't + verbo base. "I don't like coffee."
  • Pregunta: Do/Does + sujeto + verbo? "Does he speak English?"

Presente Continuo (Present Continuous):

Expresa acciones que están ocurriendo ahora.

  • Estructura: am/is/are + verbo + -ing. "I am studying right now."
  • Negativa: am/is/are + not + verbo-ing. "They aren't sleeping."

Pasado Simple (Simple Past) — verbos regulares:

  • Agregar -ed al verbo base. "I worked yesterday." "She walked to school."
  • Negativa: didn't + verbo base. "He didn't study."
  • Pregunta: Did + sujeto + verbo base? "Did you eat?"

  • Hi / Hello — Hola

  • I'm fine, thank you — Estoy bien, gracias
  • Goodbye / Bye / See you — Adiós / hasta luego

Presentaciones:

  • My name is... — Me llamo...
  • I'm from Colombia — Soy de Colombia
  • Nice to meet you — Mucho gusto
  • I'm … years old — Tengo … años

Pedir ayuda y direcciones:

  • Excuse me — Disculpe
  • Can you help me? — ¿Me puedes ayudar?
  • Where is…? — ¿Dónde está…?
  • Turn left / right — Gira a la izquierda / derecha
  • Go straight — Sigue recto

En una tienda:

  • How much does it cost? — ¿Cuánto cuesta?
  • I'd like to buy… — Quisiera comprar…
  • Can I have the bill? — ¿Me trae la cuenta?
  • Do you accept cards? — ¿Aceptan tarjetas?

1=one, 2=two, 3=three, 4=four, 5=five, 6=six, 7=seven, 8=eight, 9=nine, 10=ten, 11=eleven, 12=twelve, 13=thirteen, 20=twenty, 30=thirty, 40=forty, 50=fifty, 100=one hundred, 1000=one thousand

Horas:

  • What time is it? — ¿Qué hora es?
  • It's two o'clock — Son las dos en punto
  • It's half past three — Son las tres y media
  • It's quarter to five — Son las cinco menos cuarto

Días de la semana:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Meses:

January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December
